World premiere recording of new amazing music for wind quintet, upright piano and soprano countertenor written by Piotr Klimek - composer, producer and lecturer. The two pieces recorded on this album are a tribute to the great authors - William Shakespeare (Preludes and Sonnets) and Molière (Tombeau de Poquelin). It`s no surprise, as Piotr Klimek is well known for his theatre music, although his vocal and instrumental works gain more attention every year. The two masterpieces here recorded are as beautiful as humble, just as the following words of the composer concerning his Preludes and Sonnets: "An attempt at writing new music in the 21st century for Renaissance romantic poetry resembles a risky walk along a narrow, foggy mountain ridge, on the sides of which stretch the Rift of Kitsch – to the left – and the Abyss of Banality – to the right. Most likely, I have not been able to walk this dangerous path in such a way that from time to time my foot has not slipped into one chasm or the other. I can only hope that the Listener who makes it to the forty-fifth minute of my "Preludes..." will not feel the need to immediately call for a rescue helicopter."
About the second work, Tombeau de Poquelin, Piotr Klimek wrote: "Molière deserves a tombstone much more than Couperin. (...) I am not criticizing Ravel's gesture. I am merely trying to restore the right proportions. Or at least to advocate for them."
The CD comes in an soft-touch ecopack, with a booklet in English and Polish.
